Using Essential Oils in Your Chakra Work

Aromatherapy is a wonderful form of alternative and complementary medicine in its own right, but it can be even more powerful when added to your chakra work. In turn, your chakra work can enhance the healing effects of the essential oils you choose to create the effects you are aiming for.

All of us are so busy these days. Wouldn’t it be great to feel more alert and energetic without being wired with caffeine all day? Both aromatherapy using essential oils and chakra work can help us accomplish this.

The first step is to find the essential oils you like. We all have our favorite scents that fill us with pleasure each time we smell them.  In the case of essential oils, the healing essence of the plant has been distilled and concentrated, so using it on the skin on the chakra you wish to work on, or all 7 chakras, can bring powerful balancing and energizing effects to each chakra.

Aromatherapy can be an expensive healing path when you are first beginning if you are not careful about your oil purchases. Fortunately, many of the most popular beginner sets contain many of the essential oils that will add to your chakra work.  Add a couple of drops to massage oil and see what a difference it can make.

The second step is to memorize your chakras and what kind of energy each contains in order to match up the right oils with the right chakras. Here is a list of chakras, energies, and some suggested oils for each chakra:

1-The Root Chakra-stability, life’s essentials

cinnamon

ginger

patchouli

2-The Navel Chakra-passion, creation, procreation

geranium

orange

sandalwood

3-The Solar Plexus Chakra-willpower and personal power

frankincense

lemon

myrrh

4-The Heart Chakra-love, compassion, empathy

eucalyptus

peppermint

rose

5-The Throat Chakra-communication

chamomile

geranium

lavender

6-The Third Eye Chakra-intuition, wisdom

bergamot

lemon

orange

7-The Crown Chakra-higher self

frankincense

jasmine

ylang ylang

Choose on the basis of your personal preference or that of your partner you might be sharing massage and chakra work with. Some oils are great for both men and women. Others might be very floral and feminine. Some, like ylang ylang, might smell wonderful to some and way too exotic for others. Dilute in massage oil and what a difference it can make to you chakra energy.

If you have not yet explored aromatherapy, start slowly and follow your nose. You should soon find wonderful essential oils to enhance your chakra work.
